Commitment to sustainability

Duro Felguera maintains a firm commitment to sustainability, understanding that social progress, environmental balance and economic growth must go hand in hand.

The aim of this sustainable business strategy is to have a positive impact on the effect that Duro Felguera’s activity has on the environment or society, thus helping to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges, such as poverty or climate change, without losing sight of the fact that it is not possible to contribute positively to the long-term sustainability of our society without also having an adequate financial development.

The constitution at the beginning of 2022 of the Sustainability Committee, made up of 5 members of the Board of Directors, represents Duro Felguera’s clear commitment to the transformation towards a sustainable business model that makes decarbonisation compatible with productive growth and the well- being of society.

In order to activate this sustainable business strategy, Duro Felguera works transversally in all areas of the business:

Operational level: by reducing emissions, reducing electricity consumption, sustainable supply chain policies, choosing responsibly sourced materials and reducing water use. Operations, in short, related to production, manufacturing, quality and processes.

Organisational level: acting with principles, strengthening society, and hand in hand with management commitment.

Brand level: Creating a value proposition that is aligned with social expectations in terms of sustainability.

Duro Felguera joins the UN Global Compact

Duro Felguera has recently joined the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. It is currently made up of more than 21,000 entities in more than 160 countries.

Duro Felguera reaffirms its commitment to human rights

On 31 March last, the Board of Directors approved Duro Felguera’s Human Rights Policy, the result of its commitment to Human Rights and respect for ethical principles in accordance with the Group’s corporate culture.
