Duro Felguera holds the vice-presidency of Auxiliary Industry in the recently created Spanish Association of Renewable Ammonia (AEAR). Its objective is to contribute to the energy transition, promoting different actions that foster the entire value chain of renewable ammonia, which is aligned with the strengths of Duro Felguera in the sector.
The BAHÍA H2 OFFSHORE project, which will be located in the public domain of the Santander Port Authority, focuses on the development of an innovative solution, which proposes the production of renewable hydrogen and its conversion to green ammonia from offshore renewable energies; all this on a barge where production is carried out in situ and what is transported to land is the green ammonia generated, combining all the processes in the same space and optimising the occupation of the marine space as much as possible, as well as greater ease of maintenance.
Duro Felguera and its subsidiaries Duro Felguera Calderería Pesada and Duro Felguera Innovation Hub have joined Innovasturias as members, during the General Assembly of the entity, held on May 10th, where the association welcomed 18 new companies. The event, held at the Niemeyer Centre in Avilés, was attended by Bárbara Pericón, head of Quality, Environment and R&D of Duro Felguera Calderería Pesada, who collected the accreditation diploma.

pHYnix, an independent renewable hydrogen producer, has selected DF Green Tech, Duro Felguera’s renewable energy division, to develop the turnkey contract (EPC) for the construction of the Vitale production plant, located in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real). The contract includes the detailed engineering, civil works, supply and installation of main equipment including the electrolyser (Cummins) and compressors (Howden), and the commissioning of the plant.
Duro Felguera is participating as a collaborating company in the course “hydrogen sustainable fuel” organised by the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Minas del Noroeste de España, in Oviedo. Last Saturday, José Aurelio Suárez Devesa, responsible for Activation and Monitoring in Duro Felguera Energy Storage, was in charge of the presentation “Hydrogen and its storage”.
